September 2009, NEW!

New Generation Graffi Clean 300 - in stock now!

Graffi Clean 300 has been reformulated to be NMP free - this means a safer product for you to use and safer for the environment too.  This is in line with future changes to product hazard labelling.

Used for removing graffiti from porous surfaces, its performance has proven to be just as good as our original product.

New Generation Graffi Clean 300 compliments Graffi Green, our graffiti remover for use on hard surfaces (or surfaces protected with one of the permanent anti graffiti coatings).  Graffi Green has been NMP free for some time.

May 2009, Icelandic freezer gets a hot clean

When Tensid customer Enso in Iceland were approached by the Icelandic national milk producer Mjolkursamsalan they were experiencing some problems with cleaning the exterior of the massive storage freezers - part of the ice cream factory.

The aluminium cladding has a very smooth, glossy finish which the client had been trying to clean just with water.  Unsuccessful, they asked Enso for help.  The dirt was a mixture of dust and some green biological organisms similar to moss that had formed in the crevices between the blocks.

Arni Geir of Enso said they carried out some tests first before deciding to use Cladex LD with a dwell time of about 20 minutes max, then rinsing with 50°hot water.  This method proved to provide the best results.

The air temperature was around 5°C in the morning however the surface temperature was lower in the morning which why they used 50°C hot water.  Once the surface got to around 5-6° the cleaning was much easier. The building had 3 equally large sides - the one shown here was by far the dirtiest.

The building has also now been coated with Cladex Restore.

September 2008, Biology Department gets a non-bio clean

Essex based contractor Wipeout, has completed a successful clean which, in the past, could have posed some difficult problems.  Wipeout were asked to clean 4000 m2 of new porcelain internal flooring for the new Biology Department at Cranfield University in Bedford.

With its many doorways, lack of drainage and the added problem of a lift shaft - it was an area  riddled with potential hazards for a hot water clean.  Wipeout hired the Aquila water recycling machine, and using the floor cleaning tool attachment, the water was vacuumed, collected, filtered and re-used without excessive water and no water splashing.  It took just 10 hours to completely clean 4000 m2.

This equipment is an ideal cleaning solution for many internal or previously inaccessible areas such as car parks, reception areas, factory floors and so on.

September 2008, Graffiti Busters remove giant wall art at Tate Modern

The last few days of August saw the Graffiti Busters team removing the extraordinary giant graffiti exhibition.  Some of the walls had previously been coated with our sacrificial anti graffiti coating, Graffi Coat 1, which allows the graffiti to be removed by simply using hot water under moderate pressure - in this instance with the Aquila TD352 complete with dual operation.

Click below to see BBC footage of the operation which in itself proved to be quite a spectacle.

Where surfaces were unprotected, the graffiti is now being removed using Tavec - our water based and non hazardous paint stripper -in conjunction with the water recycling pressure washer which is collecting the waste using the trough system.

July 2008, June and July show record sales of Tavec paint stripper

Remember the dinosaurs in Crystal Palace Park?  They were renovated by Holden Conservation back in 2002 and this was one of the first special projects where Tavec was used.  Since then Tavec has proven itself and become renowned as the water based, environmentally friendly paint stripper.  Sales have rocketed in 2008.

Why not tell us your Tavec story?  Send in your case study with photo(s) and be published on our home page!
